PINEVILLE RANCH
Pineville Ranch is a planned outdoor campus in the “Lost Sierra” of Northern California. The ranch will provide a space for youth mountain bike teams, tech executives, women’s leadership groups, and many others to congregate, share ideas, and enjoy the growing network of hiking and biking trails in the Plumas County mountains.
Mass Timber plays a key role in the campus. The construction of the buildings will provide workforce training in working with mass timber, and once complete they will form an “experience center” showcasing different methods of timber construction. The timber will be sourced from California’s two emergent mass timber producers - Mad River Mass Timber in Arcata, CA, and the local Mosaic Timber.
Phased construction is expect to begin in 2027.
Two residential structures will be part of the first phase - the ranch manager’s house, based on a DLT kit home designed in partnership with Mad River Mass Timber, and a CLT family lodge based on the 4-bedroom Sierra House design. Exterior weathering steel cladding will provide additional fire-resistance.
Two CLT “lanterns” will anchor the campus, providing space for gathering, training, and community meals. With an upper-level apartment, this flexible design provide a replicable model for small live-work or commercial structures.
